Monsalve defends hiring advisers for millionaire salaries: “They are justified cases” | National

Undersecretary Monsalve defended the hiring of advisers for millionaire salaries, which exceed the self-imposed limit by the Government. “These have been cases considered justified,” he said.

The Undersecretary of the Interior, Manuel Monsalve, justified the decision to request the hiring consultants for salaries above the limit self-imposed by the Government.

This is a letter sent to the Budget Directorate, dependent on the Ministry of Finance, where he asks to sign four advisers “excepting them from the remuneration limits.”

This was revealed by a report by the BioBioChile Research Unit.

Asked about it during a visit to the Araucania, where he led a Police Committee, Monsalve justified the decision, highlighting that he acted with transparency.

“The situation is quite transparent, so much so that the job in which they are requested is public and, therefore, it is known and everyone can read it and know it,” he said.

In that sense, he explained that it is precisely an exceptional request that was made to the Budget Directorate, in order to pay remunerations above the limit that has been established as a rule in the Government.

“This has to do with the qualification of people,” added the undersecretary.

“I want to place just one example, not by name, but in my case within my cabinet there is a person who held the roles of Minister of State, Undersecretary of State, Legislative Coordinator in Congress, and obviously his experience, ability and his knowledge is of high value for the function he exercises in the Ministry of the Interior”, he replied.

On the other hand, he pointed out that it is a limited group of advisers, whose hiring was authorized by the Budget Directorate.

“In justified cases, this exception can be requested and these have been cases considered justified,” he closed.
