Montreal: a beauty salon targeted twice in three days

A beauty salon in the Mercier–Hochelaga-Maisonneuve borough was once once more the target of criminals overnight from Saturday to Sunday, just three days following being the victim of a suspicious fire.

It was around 1:45 a.m. Sunday that authorities received a call regarding a fire in a business located on rue Hochelaga, near rue Paul-Pau. Once at the scene, firefighters quickly extinguished the flames which did little damage.

The origin of the fire being criminal, the investigation was entrusted to the Arson Section of the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM). As in the night from Thursday to Friday, the suspects tried to set fire to the place by throwing an incendiary object, a Molotov cocktail.

“Investigators will come to the scene during the day to try to shed light on this event,” said Véronique Comtois, spokesperson for the SPVM.
