Four young motorists received costly tickets after committing excessive speeding in Montreal during the night from Friday to Saturday.

First, shortly before midnight on Friday, a 17-year-old Laval resident was intercepted while driving at 202 km/h northbound on Highway 15, near rue de Salaberry. Officers from the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) gave him a fine of $960 and 24 demerit points. The individual was also fined $65 because he did not have his driver’s license in his possession.

A few moments later, a 23-year-old man was intercepted while traveling at 180 km/h on Highway 40 West, near Chemin de la Côte-Vertu. The offender, originally from Prévost, received a fine of $1,564 accompanied by 14 demerit points. He also received a fine of $322 and three demerit points for crossing a cross-hatched road marking.

Then, around 1 a.m., patrol officers stopped a 23-year-old motorist from Montreal North, who had refused to stop after an infraction of the road safety code on the A40 West, near Cavendish Boulevard. After finally stopping, the culprit received three tickets totaling $1,912 and 17 demerit points, including one for driving at 170 km/h and another for driving while his headlights were off. In this case, the SQ specifies that the man could be accused of dangerous driving.

Finally, around 2:30 a.m., an 18-year-old man from Pierrefonds was caught driving at 151 km/h in a 70 km/h zone in the area of ​​Highway 15 North, near the boulevard Édouard-Montpetit. The police gave him a ticket for $1,564 and 18 demerit points.

The driver’s license of each of these motorists was suspended for seven days. Two of them also had their vehicles parked.
