more and more technical problems observed on electric vehicles

A new study has just pointed out that Tesla electric cars have just recorded a significant increase in technical problems.

A new study has just undermined the market leader in electric cars: Tesla. Indeed, a recent report published by JD Power has just pointed to a significant increase in technical problems on the American manufacturer’s vehicles compared to last year. It is also underlined that for 100 vehicles, a total of 266 reports are made. However, this does not only concern this company, but the entire automotive sector. A phenomenon which is notably due to the shortage of components.

Not-So-Perfect Teslas

While Tesla leads the electric car market, the quality of its vehicles is not improving. The JD Power Institute has just published a recent study, relayed by phonandroid, revealing that the American manufacturer had one of the highest scores for technical problems in the sector. In the details, it is emphasized that 266 reports were made for 100 vehicles of the brand. The latter thus ranks 26th out of the 33 brands analyzed.

The report also points out that the entire sector is seeing an overall decline in vehicle deliveries. The number of reports would have increased by 11% in just one year. This behavior would be particularly more frequent when going upmarket. It should indeed be remembered that Tesla vehicles are not within the reach of all wallets.

This increase in reports is quite logical, given that the higher a consumer’s level of expectation, the more he expects the technologies embedded in a high-end vehicle to be functional. However, the presence of more and more technology in vehicles logically increases the risk of malfunctions. It is also important to emphasize that car manufacturers have logically made concessions in the face of the shortage of components in order to be able to continue to deliver vehicles.

At Tesla, the most frequent reports are related to software issues. In the automotive market, the most common are related to infotainment systems. To note, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay account for 5.8% of reports. Other frequent bugs are related to touch screens, voice recognition, USB ports or Bluetooth.
