“Normally, in two years, 40,000 workers in Austria go into tourism. In the last two years it was only 20,000,” Kocher calculates. At the same time, the demand for employees is increasing once more following two years of corona measures. “Companies can only be advised to face these facts and work on concepts to increase their attractiveness as an employer,” says AMS boss Johannes Kopf. He also appeals to companies to actively contact the AMS so that a solution can be found together. After all, the shortage of staff will probably accompany the industry for a long time.
