The Moroccan Industrial and Commercial Property Office (OMPIC) takes stock of business creations for the first quarter of the year, reports Today Morocco in its delivery of the day. We thus learn of the registration of 24,660 companies, including 17,444 legal entity companies and 7,216 natural person companies. “This volume is down compared to the same period of the previous year, during which the number of creations reached 29,471, including 20,345 legal entity companies and 9,126 natural person companies. Most of these creations cover three sectors of activity,” explains OMPIC. Trade comes first with a share of 35.55% of new creations, while construction and real estate activities capture 19.13% of new registrations. “With a share of 16.8%, miscellaneous services come third, followed by transport (9.55%), industries (6.77%), hotels and restaurants (6.17%), the sector ICT (2.55%) and agriculture and fishing (2.36%). Financial activities only represent 1.10% of new creations.
By region, Casablanca-Settat takes the lion’s share with a total of 7,163 newly created companies, it says. The city of Casablanca alone has 5,964 new registrations for the first quarter of the year against 385 in Mohammedia, 255 in El Jadida, 248 in Berrechid, 211 in Settat, 110 in Benslimane, 57 in Sidi Bennour and 23 in Ben Ahmad. The Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima Region comes in second place, thus capturing 3,388 new creations including 2,237 in Tangier, 541 in Tetouan, 192 in Larache, 130 in Ksar El Kebir, 124 in Al Hoceima, 59 respectively in Chefchaouen and Ouazzane , 31 in Asilah and 15 in Targuist. “In detail, Rabat is home to 1,107 new businesses compared to 725 for Kénitra, 578 for Témara, 355 for Salé, 132 for Tifelt, 106 for Merchra Bel Ksiri, 92 for Souk Larbaâ and Sidi Kacem, 74 for Khemisset, 56 for Sidi Slimane and 13 for Romani. The OMPIC also lists 2,279 new creations at the level of Marrakech-Safi”, underlines Today Morocco.
It should be noted that the regional distribution also shows 1,988 new registrations at the level of Fez-Meknes, 1,586 at the level of Souss Massa, 1,298 at the level of Oriental, 1,152 at the level of Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra, 892 at the level of Béni Mellal- Khénifra, 740 at Draâ-Tafilalet, 564 at Dakhla Oued-Eddahab and 280 at Guelmim-Oued Noun. “With these new creations, the total number of registrations at the OMPIC level has crossed the threshold of 2 million companies, including 786,879 legal entity companies and 1,219,814 natural person companies. 84.2% of these companies have a turnover of less than 3 million dirhams”, concludes Today Morocco.
