More than 4 tons of hashish seized and 3 Moroccans arrested

The Customs Surveillance Service of the Spanish Tax Agency intervened in the waters east of the Strait of Gibraltar to seize a semi-rigid boat that was carrying more than 4,700 kilograms of hashish. According to Area Newspaper, the operation also made it possible to arrest three members of the ship’s crew, all of Moroccan nationality.

The operation, deployed with naval air means on the night of last Wednesday, led to the largest seizure of hashish made by customs surveillance, as indicated in a press release from the agency. Investigators attribute to this boat the role of mother ship or supplier of other inflatable boats, which would bring the drugs into Spain.

During the seizure, the customs surveillance agents were able to verify that the vessel did not have the minimum conditions of habitability. The RIB crew found themselves without space to move from their seats on the boat, as they were literally surrounded by bundles that even exceeded the line of the inflatable floats.
