More than 600 schoolchildren from Mayenne are preparing a concert with songs by Jean-Jacques Goldman

More than 600 schoolchildren from Mayenne have been participating since the end of September in a giant choir with a theme that we know well on France Bleu Mayenne: the repertoire of Jean-Jacques Goldman. The project is called the “choirs”
, a mixture of choir and colleges. In a little less than two months, they will be in concert at the Salle des Angenoises in Bonchamp-lès-Laval. The students, who come from 20 colleges in Mayenne, will perform on stage with professional musicians during four evenings, from May 30 to June 2.

“Goldman, it speaks to children”

All these students are volunteers for this choir and now know Goldman’s songs by heart. “I’ve always listened to a lot of music, especially Jean-Jacques Goldman with my parents. It’s timeless“, explains Lisette, a 14-year-old student, educated at Saint Jean-Baptiste de la Salle College in Laval. Like this schoolgirl, many participants in this choir have acquired a taste for Goldman’s repertoire by listening to songs at home. He’s not my favorite singer, but with my parents, we always hear a bit of Jean-Jacques Goldman here and there.“smiles Énora, 11, from Saint-Joseph College in Ernée.

Last year, this giant choir performed songs from the group Telephone. “We thought it was good to put an artist in the spotlight, so we said why not Goldman, it speaks to childrens”, recalls Laëtitia Regereau, one of the coordinators of the “Chorallèges”. The songs chosen for the concerts are both songs “written for him, but also that he wrote for others”, says the music education teacher. The students rehearse for one hour every week, each in their college. Joint rehearsals were also organized in the hall of the CMA in Laval.

The four evenings of concerts at Les Angenoises will be chargeable: 10 euros per full price. These entries will notably make it possible to reimburse the rental of the performance hall in Bonchamp-lès-Laval.
