Moscow claims an ‘iron curtain’ is falling between Russia and the West | The World | D.W.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Thursday (06.30.2022) that an “iron curtain” was falling between Russia and the West due to diplomatic tensions that arose following the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

“The iron curtain is in fact already falling,” Lavrov told a news conference in Minsk, Belarus, referring to the famous phrase uttered by former British Prime Minister Winston Churchill in 1946 following World War II.

“They should be careful not to get pinched by it,” he warned. “Let them behave carefully.”

According to Lavrov, the EU “shows no interest in understanding Russian interests” and its decisions are dictated “by Washington.”

The NATO summit, which took place this week in Madrid, shows that the United States wants to “submit all states to its will,” added the minister.
