MOURNING IN PERUVIAN MUSIC. The singer Yuliana Perea Torres (38), a very popular artist in Loreto, died on Tuesday, August 22 after undergoing liposuction at a clinic in Iquitos. Problems in her aesthetic operation caused her to be referred to a hospital in the city, where she would end up dying in a case of alleged medical negligence.

It all happened last Tuesday night, when the obstetrician and singer from Loreto underwent liposuction at the Santa Anita clinic. However, she reportedly suffered a cardiac arrest for which she had to be rushed to the Hospital de Apoyo Iquitos, in a dying state. In that place, she would end up passing away, to the shock of all of Iquitos.

After that, the Public Ministry arrived at the aforementioned clinic to begin investigations into the death of Yuliana Perea. The doctor John Casado del Castillo, allegedly in charge of the operation, was arrested and remains at the Loreto police station to find out what responsibilities he has in this case.
Reaction of the mother of the deceased singer
The singer’s mother demanded justice and prison for the aforementioned doctor. During the wake and remarkably distressed, Mrs. Purita Torres revealed that she was unaware that her daughter would undergo this kind of intervention.
“My husband has been called that our little girl died. She was unaware. Not even her daughters knew. She was always afraid that those things would go wrong. I want that doctor to rot in jail,” the mother assured Loreto al Día.

Yuliana Perea was an obstetrician, businesswoman and singer from Loreto who gained recognition in the region for her versatility in singing and her charisma. She worked as dean of the College of Obstetricians in Loreto and was also a member of the Electro Ritmo group. Her death leaves two children orphaned, a 19-year-old student and an 8-year-old boy.
