“We wanted to create a place for exercise where young and old would like to come together.”
“We wanted to provide a place to come together for exercise that is fun,” said Berger and Kogler. The appropriate name “freiRaum+” was quickly found and refers to the innovative concept that is intended to attract visitors from the entire region. “We have created a place that offers inspiration for different sporting activities that everyone from young to old, from club people to amateur athletes, can use,” say the two Schleedorf women. “In freiRaum+, cross-generational encounters take place, so social cohesion is promoted and contacts are made.”
The equipment of the exercise park, which was built right next to the Schleedorf football field, is truly impressive. Five outdoor fitness machines, a trampoline, a skate park, a six and a half meter high rope and climbing pyramid, a table tennis table, table football and a calisthenics course in which your own body weight is used for strength training leave little to be desired. Furthermore, two asphalt tracks were built, which will be covered next year. The beach volleyball court was moved from the adjacent soccer field to the exercise park. Next year, the vacant area at the soccer field will be equipped with a multi-sports field where you can play soccer, basketball and hockey.
The project was implemented with the employees of the Schleedorfer Bauhof, Schleedorfer associations, volunteers and regional companies. “The clubs pitched in on two helper days, and the seniors in particular put in a lot of effort,” said Martina Berger and Martina Kogler, pleased about the support.
The exercise park was financed with a total cost of 280,000 euros through Leader funding, sports facility funding, sponsors, clubs and the community’s own resources.
The park is currently missing a few details such as trash cans and signage. A drinks vending machine will also be installed. Sanitary facilities can be used at the neighboring sports field. A separate toilet container is to be set up next year.
The opening of the freiRaum+ movement park will be celebrated on Friday, September 22nd, from 3 p.m. All interested parties are invited. A diverse program is offered with demonstrations at the calisthenics facility and exercise stations, a skater workshop and games for children. A physiotherapist also shows exercises. The Schleedorfer Speisband will provide music. The Schleedorf Comradeship Association will provide the food and Gelato de Martin will provide ice cream enjoyment.
