MPC appeal after the acquittal of Sepp Blatter and Michel Platini – rts.ch

The Public Ministry of the Confederation appealed after the acquittal of Sepp Blatter and Michel Platini. The Federal Criminal Court exonerated the former FIFA and UEFA presidents from the fraud charge on July 8.

The call dates from last Friday, the Public Ministry of the Confederation (MPC) said on Monday, confirming information from the German press agency.

The Federal Criminal Court (TPF), whose seat is in Bellinzona, must now justify its judgment in writing. He will then be reviewed by the MPC, who will then decide whether to maintain his appeal or withdraw it.

The case concerns the payment in 2011 by Sepp Blatter of 2 million francs to Michel Platini for work as a consultant. The MPC and FIFA, in its capacity as plaintiff, consider that this payment has no legal basis.

The doubt benefited the accused

But the judges of Bellinzona considered that the doubt should benefit the defendants. The Court notably argued that because of his notoriety and the usual fees in football, Michel Platini could very well have asked for a million francs a year at the time.

The court ruled in substance that there were sufficient indicia for an oral contract.
