MU is ready to let Phil Jones leave

Phil Jones has been with MU for 12 years.

According to The Sun (UK), MU decided to liquidate Phil Jones in this January transfer window. Besides, MU wants to sell Axel Tuanzebe and Tom Heaton.

MU welcomed two rookies, Wout Weghorst and goalkeeper Jack Butland, in the winter transfer window. Coach Erik ten Hag wants to liquidate the players in the squad and one of them is Phil Jones. MU is ready to listen to any offer sent to this 30-year-old midfielder.

Along with goalkeeper De Gea, Phil Jones is currently the longest-serving player in the MU squad. However, Phil Jones is now just a spare in the Old Trafford team.

In February 2019, Phil Jones signed a contract worth 110,000 pounds/week, with a term of 4 years with MU. However, in the past 4 seasons, he played only 13 matches. The last time Phil Jones played for MU was in May 2022. Before that, the English player had a period of torture.

Phil Jones is not in coach Ten Hag’s plans and he can’t compete with other central defenders in the squad. Joining MU in 2011, Phil Jones has played 169 matches in the Premier League, scoring 2 goals for the Old Trafford team.

Once set great expectations by Sir Alex, but after that, Phil Jones’ career experienced many ups and downs at MU. According to the statistics of The Sportsman, since joining the Old Trafford team, Phil Jones has gone through 6 generations of coaches, not to mention temporary teachers. During that time, 194 players left the club. Now, Phil Jones’ time at Old Trafford begins to count down.
