Shooting Near Marquette University Injures Three, Including a Child

Milwaukee, WI – October 20, 2025 – A shooting near Marquette University injured three people, including a 6-year-old child, on Friday evening, October 18th. The incident occurred around 7:45 p.m. in the 1000 block of North 19th Street,close to the university’s Norris Park.

According to the Milwaukee Police Department, a 38-year-old, a 6-year-old, and a 23-year-old all sustained non-fatal gunshot wounds.All three victims were transported to a local hospital for treatment.

While non-fatal shootings are down 22% compared to last year and 40% from 2023, Police Chief Jeffrey Norman recently highlighted concerns about the increasing number of young people involved in these incidents. The latest quarterly crime data indicates a broader downward trend in most crime categories, despite a slight increase in homicides.
