Murder Case | Punnol Haridas murder case; Defendant caught WhatsApp chat with wife – News18 Malayalam

Kannur: The accused in the case of CPM activist Punnol Haridas was caught having a WhatsApp chat with his wife at night. The accused was caught after checking his wife’s phone. The main accused in the case is Nikhil Das, 38, of Parakandi. After checking that Nikhil was having contact with his wife on the phone, the police checked the tower location and nabbed the accused.

The police themselves are shocked that the accused in the Haridasan murder case has been hiding in CPM strongholds. The bomber struck shortly after noon in front of a house where the accused was hiding. The incident took place 200 meters from the house of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. Pinarayi SI also lives near the house where the accused went into hiding.

The teacher was arrested by the police in the case of helping the accused to abscond. The accused Nikhil Das was absconding at Prashanth’s house in Pandyalamukku, Pinarayi, Kannur. Prashant’s wife Reshma was arrested by the police.

Prashant, who is working abroad, is known locally as a CPM supporter. Nikhil Das was arrested around 3.30 am on Friday at his house in Pandyala Mukku. Haridasan is the 14th accused in the murder case. A team led by New Mahe SIs Vipin and Anil Kumar raided the house and nabbed the accused.

Punnol Haridasan was killed on February 21 last year. In the first phase, Nikhil was questioned and released by the police. The role became clear later in further investigation. An anticipatory bail application was filed in the court but was rejected. Two more accused are yet to be arrested in the case.
