The investigation began when a lifeless body was discovered on Tuesday March 21 on the Emmabaan in the border village of Koewacht in the Netherlands. Marleen, the victim, a 64-year-old woman from Ostend, may have been violently killed.
Elvir, a 33-year-old acquaintance of the victim, was quickly suspected by investigators. The man could be apprehended in Germany.
After spending almost a month and a half in a German cell, the suspect was handed over to our country on Wednesday. “He will be interrogated, then brought before the investigating judge,” said the prosecution. It is not yet known when this appearance will take place.
Marleen was helping Elvir’s family
Our colleagues from HNB provide more information regarding the tragic murder of Marleen. First of all, the sexagenarian had only lived on the Coast since the death of her husband Guy. It was there that she met Elvir and his family. The two were neighbors.
Elvir’s family has five children and is struggling financially. To help them, Marleen gave them money. If she did this so that they did not miss anything, the 33-year-old suspect used the tickets in gambling establishments. The Ostend woman realized this and, instead of giving her money, offered her Fruits and vegetables.
