Kerala was shocked to hear about the murder of Dr. Vandana Das in the Kottarakkara taluk hospital. Vandana was attacked and killed by Sandeep, a native of Kodavattur, Kollam. Sandeep attacked five people including Vandana. Vandana was seriously injured and admitted to a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram but later died. Binu, a member of CPIM Odanavattam local committee and former DYFI Neduvathur block office-bearer, was also injured in the attack by the accused. Binu says that the murderer stabbed him first and stabbed him in the neck. Binu was injured in the attack and is currently undergoing treatment.

Binu is the neighbor of the accused. Binu says that he had seen Sandeep talking to each other in the evening before the incident. Then he understood and sent him back home. After this, he went to a house where only women were there and created a ruckus. He arrived there as they called. At this time he was saying something contradictory. After the police asked him to come along, he went along. At this time, Sandeep was holding a stick in his hand. Binu said that after a lot of talking, he was ready to throw away the stick.

He also stabbed the guard who ran after seeing him being attacked. As soon as she went to stop him, he stabbed her again. This time more people came and his attack turned on them. Binu added that at this time he was seeking shelter in the dressing room.
