Murder of girlfriend during Norway tour: German died in custody

A spokeswoman for the Münster public prosecutor’s office confirmed this on Monday. The 29-year-old had been in custody in Duisburg since October on suspicion of murder. He is said to have killed his then-partner during a vacation in Norway last year.

As the head of the Duisburg-Hamborn correctional facility said on Monday, a 29-year-old was found dead in his cell on Friday morning. There is suspicion of suicide.

On vacation with a motorhome

The 29-year-old is said to have gone on vacation to Scandinavia with his then-partner in a motorhome last fall. The man is said to have killed the woman with two pistol shots at Lake Falningsjoen at the beginning of October. According to the Münster public prosecutor’s office, the man is said to have doused the body with a flammable liquid and set it on fire before returning to Germany.

Family members filed a missing person report on October 7th because they no longer had contact with the woman and she had not shown up at her place of work. The 29-year-old was arrested ten days later. Police found the wallet and several weapons in a warehouse rented by the man in Rheine. Information from the accused ultimately led to the body being found in Norway.
