A man in his early 80s fatally shot his wife and two adult children before taking his own life in a Los Angeles home, authorities reported.
A witness at the residence reported shots fired at approximately 7:00 p.m. Saturday in the Granada Hills area, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The officers who responded to the call forced entry and the witness led them to four people dead at the scene, in what police characterized as a murder-suicide.
The survivor was barricaded in a room during the shooting and called the police, but no details were immediately released about who that person was, ABC 7 reported.
“The only positive point is that at least you have one witness who survived this incident,” police captain Kelly Muniz said at a news conference.
Investigators believe the gunman, who was only said to be in his 80s, shot his wife, who was also in her 80s, and their two adult children, a man and a woman in their early 40s. years.
The gunman was found with a self-inflicted gunshot wound in a different part of the home, police said.
The identities of the victims and the attacker were not immediately released, nor were details about a possible motive.
