During the course of this Sunday afternoon, Jesús Murillo Karam, former head of the then Attorney General’s Office (PGR) was transferred from the North Prison to the “Ignacio Chávez” National Institute of Cardiology, according to sources consulted.
“Between 5 and 6 p.m. he was transferred to a hospital… we know he got sick, but it has not been clear to us what was complicated, because he has various ailments”they stated.
On March 17, the defense of the former official, related to the Ayotzinapa case, indicated that he was transferred from the North Prison to the Medical Tower of the Tepepan Prison for evaluation.after he had presented a picture of high blood pressure (Hypertension) of 190/112 mm Hg or higher.
On that occasion, the legal defense, headed by Javier López García, reiterated its concern at the visible deterioration suffered by Murillo Karam’s health and asked the medical and prison authorities to take him to a hospital so that he could receive the necessary care as recommended by the attending physicians at the General Hospital of xoco.

“Since his arrest, the defense and his family have warned about the diseases that Murillo Karam had been diagnosed with”said the defense.
They described as worrisome that a cerebral vascular event could occur and cannot be treated in a timely manner in the detention centerand with this, the risk of permanent or fatal damage is increased.
“That is why we consider from the outset that preventive detention justified by flight risk was a dangerous and disproportionate measure”they emphasized.
