Dr. Mabrouk Attia, Professor of Islamic Law at Al-Azhar University, received a shocking question from a caller and responded to it through his official YouTube channel.

Attia received a question that he described as strange, in which the questioner says: “My mother-in-law is a beautiful widow and she encouraged me to make mistakes with her and to live with us… I want to repent… Divorce her daughter and leave the house?”

Attia replied, via a live broadcast video on his official YouTube channel, saying: “Whoever wants to repent regrets what has passed and makes a decision not to return to it.”

He explained that repentance is regret for what has passed and not insisting on returning to it, and the questioner admits his mistake, and every son of Adam makes mistakes, and the best of sinners are those who repent, and the jurisprudential rule is that harm is still harm.

Attia added: “You divorce her daughter, so you will harm your wife when she leaves the house and walks, and God knows whether you have children or not.. Are you not going to live in her house, how? .. She silenced you in any way and your woman who goes to see her, even if her mother is the mother of sins, her name is her mother .. And you are close to her or her home.” He stressed that he should not prevent her daughter from going to her or helping her, when the Almighty said: “And those in their wealth have a known right, to the questioner and the deprived of them,” he did not say only the obedient.

Attia added that if she had no children other than his wife, then his wife should visit her and he should not visit her at all, and advised him to ask God’s forgiveness and give alms, mentioning the words of the Messenger of God (peace be upon him): “I have not seen anything that is better over time, and it is not better for us.”

Attia reminded him of the story of the killer of the ninety-nine thousand, adding: “Oh, my brother, who was … the mother of your wife is equal to your mother … The jurisprudential rule says that the contract on girls deprives mothers forever like the mother .. One looks at his mother with lust?!”
