On the evening of June 4, residents of the Kuban capital and Dinskoy district heard a loud sound.
Today at about 19.00 residents were alarmed by a loud bang. It was heard in all districts of the city, as well as in the neighboring Dinskoy district.
According to the EDDS of Krasnodar and Dinskoy district, as well as data from emergency services, there were no reports of emergencies.
– Cotton, which was heard by residents of several districts of the city – most likely, the sound of an aircraft that overcame the sound barrier, – the regional operational headquarters reported.
The sonic boom can be heard standing on the ground as an aircraft flies at supersonic speeds nearby. The shock waves that it forms can be visually represented as a cone that accompanies the aircraft. The top of the cone is located in the bow.
Waves propagate from it over long distances. The hearing of a person standing on the ground picks up the boundaries of this imaginary cone. A sharp jump in pressure is perceived as an explosive pop. From the moment of overcoming the barrier, the sonic boom constantly accompanies the aircraft. However, the clap will be heard each time it flies over a fixed point on the surface. Since the aircraft is moving faster than sound, the observer will first hear a bang and only then will the engine noise.
