Nadal withdraws from Wimbledon semi-finals due to abdominal injury

Spaniard Rafael Nadal announced Thursday that he has withdrawn from the English Wimbledon Championships, the third grand slam in tennis, because he did not recover from an abdominal muscle injury, which means that his Australian semi-final opponent Nick Kyrgios qualified for the first grand final of his career without any playing.

Nadal was injured during the quarter-final match once morest American Taylor Fritz, and the Spanish newspaper “Marca” reported that he had a tear in his abdominal muscles of seven millimeters.

The 36-year-old, who has won 22 major titles, confirmed this information by saying on Thursday, “I have a torn abdominal muscle. We talked all day regarding the decision to make, but it doesn’t make sense to play if I want to continue my career.”
