Nadezhda Buyanova, a 67-year-old pediatrician at a Moscow clinic, became accused in the case of spreading “fake news” about the Russian army (Part 1 of Article 207.3 of the Criminal Code). The court refused to send her into custody, as the investigation requested, and chose a preventive measure in the form of a ban on certain actions.
On the evening of February 2, the doctor’s home was searched, during which her apartment was destroyed. A photo from Buyanova’s apartment, which shows tattered wallpaper, torn curtains and broken furniture, was published late in the evening of February 3 by Baza.
Buyanova’s lawyer, Oscar Cherdzhiev, reports the Agency, said that his client asked the police to be more careful, but they did not listen to her words.
The photo of the doctor’s destroyed apartment was reposted by journalists Dmitry Kolezev and Ilya Shepelin, Navalny’s team, Novaya Gazeta and other media outlets.
The case against Buyanova was opened after complaints from 34-year-old Anastasia Akinshina, the widow of a deceased participant in the Russian invasion of Ukraine. She claimed that she brought her seven-year-old son for a check-up because of eye problems. During the reception, Akinshina, according to her, said that the boy was yearning for his father, who died in the war with Ukraine. In response, the widow claims, the doctor called her deceased husband and any military member of the Russian army “a legitimate target of Ukraine,” and also stated that Russia attacked Ukraine and the Russian military is killing civilians.
The conflict between Akinshina and Buyanova, which Mash originally wrote about, received wide publicity. The head of the Investigative Committee, Alexander Bastrykin, ordered to initiate a criminal case against Buyanova. The doctor stated that she did not say the words that Akinshina attributes to her. The widow of a military man, in turn, complains that after the incident they began to harass her on social networks.
