Nadia Fettah takes part in AfDB annual meetings

The Minister of Economy and Finance, Nadia Fettah Alaoui, is taking part in the Annual Meetings of the African Development Bank (AfDB) which are being held from May 23 to 27 in Accra, Ghana.

On this occasion, Ms. Fettah Alaoui will have bilateral discussions with her counterparts who will take part in these annual meetings, organized under the theme “Fostering climate resilience and a just energy transition for Africa”.

The 57th edition of the Annual Meetings of the AfDB and the 48th Meetings of its Concessional Window, the African Development Fund (ADF), will see the participation of the Ministers of Finance and the Governors of the Central Banks of the 54 regional member countries and 27 member countries non-regional AfDB Group.

These 57th assemblies, which mark a return to face-to-face meetings after the virtual meetings of the past two years, are intended to be an opportunity to discuss ways to facilitate Africa’s energy transition in a context marked by climate change, the repercussions of which are already remarkable in the countries of the continent.

The objective of these meetings, the theme of which aligns with the 27th United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP27) scheduled for Egypt next November, is to discuss ways to help African countries adapt to the climate change, in particular through the mobilization of the necessary resources.

The Annual Meetings are the AfDB’s most important event. They bring together around 3,000 delegates and participants each year.

They allow the institution to take stock, with its shareholders, of the progress made and constitute a unique forum for discussion on key issues concerning the development of Africa for representatives of governments, businesses, society. civil society, think tanks, universities and the media.
