The Loch Ness Center, responsible for investigating the mythical Loch Ness monster, asked NASA this Thursday, April 11 to participate in future expeditions to try to capture images of the creature.

The end of a myth? The Loch Ness Center, responsible for investigating the legendary creature believed to lurk in the depths of Loch Ness Lake in Scotland, has urged the US space agency to provide its expertise during future research planned for May 30 to June 2, relates Sky News.

“We simply hope to benefit from their expert advice to help us in our ongoing quest for answers,” the Loch Ness Center told the British broadcaster.

According to Scottish legend, a mythological monster similar to a prehistoric snake called “Nessie” has lived for a hundred years in the depths of Lake Loch Ness in the Highlands. Despite extensive research, scientists have not yet managed to capture an official image of the famous cryptid.

A call “to Nessie hunters”

In a post published this Thursday, April 11 on Facebook, the Loch Ness Center launched an appeal to NASA and “the Nessie hunters of the world” to help them.

“Hello) Nasathis year we are determined to solve the mystery of Loch Ness and its monster, we are looking for Nessie hunters around the world to help us, will you join us in this quest this year?”, we can read.

According to the British daily, the monster hunters will be invited to board the boat of Captain Deepscan Alistair Matheson, skipper of the Loch Ness project. They will be equipped with an 18-meter hydrophone to capture potential sounds resonating from the depths of the loch.

“We hope that NASA experts will have advanced imaging technology to scan the loch,” explains the Loch Ness Center.

“Attention from around the world”

The volunteers, for their part, will be responsible for monitoring the surface of the water waiting for the slightest sign. A screening of the documentary They Created A Monster, which recounts the frenzied hunt for the monster in the 1970s and 1980s, will also be organized and followed by a question-and-answer session with director John MacLaverty.

“Last year, we captured worldwide attention with one of the largest searches ever conducted for Nessie, with participants from America, Canada, France, Italy, Japan and more again, Loch Ness Center general manager Paul Nixon reminded Sky News.

Determined not to leave empty-handed this time, he also declared that the team of researchers was looking for “new equipment” to “unravel the great mysteries of the loch”. But the task won’t be easy, Loch Ness is Scotland’s largest lake by volume and contains more fresh water than all the lakes of England and Wales combined.
