National team of Greece: On the way to Euro 2024 after the “crash” of Kazakhstan – 2024-03-22 14:49:03

The first of the two victories that the Greek national team wanted to qualify for Euro 2024 is a fact with the wide 5-0 over Kazakhstan and everything will now be decided in the away game, on March 26, against Georgia, which earlier he had cleaned Luxembourg 2-0.

At 7′, Pelkas shot inside the area, Satski saved by sending the ball onto the post and later in the phase there was contact between the Greek ace and Kairov, with the referee pointing to the penalty spot, from where Bakasetas made it 1-0 in the 9′ .

Our national team had achieved what they wanted, namely the quick goal, with the goal from then on being to maintain seriousness. And indeed it did, with the OPAP Arena erupting once again at 15′, when Masouras and Pelkas crossed he made it 2-0 with a header.

Greece had now laid the foundations for victory, with Kazakhstan, on the other hand, having major problems in their game, although in the 24th minute they touched the goal with Chesnekov’s shot from outside the area and with the ball also finding head of Hatzidiakos and to go to the post.

The Kazakhs could have reduced it at this stage but they didn’t and finally before the end of the first half Poget’s team made sure to put an early end to the game: 3-0 at 37′ Ioannidis from close range after Masoura’s pass, 4-0 at 40′ Kourbelis with a header after Tsimika’s cross and victory was already assured.

This, as anyone can easily understand, allowed our National team to conserve forces in the second half since there was absolutely no obvious reason for them to run relentlessly to the end chasing more goals against Kazakhstan.

Poget started from the break, already, the changes with Retso coming in instead of Hadzidiakos and in general in the second half he looked at how he will give breathers to those he thought necessary, with our representative group having with Mandalo and Bakashetta the opportunities to the 5th goal, which was finally scored by… an own goal.

In the 85th minute, Tsimikas took a corner and Tapalov headed the ball into his side’s net for 5-0, with Greece now turning their attention to the upcoming “final” against Georgia.

Greece (Gustavo Poget): Vlachodimos, Baldok (67′ Rota), Mavropanos, Hatzidiakos (46′ Retsos), Tsimikas, Kourbelis, Mandalos, Bakasetas (74′ Bouchalakis), Masouras, Pelkas (63′ Giakoumakis), Ioannidis (63′ Konstandelias).
