Outsider Hungary has made an exclamation mark in the Nations League and defeated European runners-up England in the second game within a few days. The Three Lions stumble after the 0: 4 (0: 1) home defeat in the direction of relegation, Hungary stormed to the top of the Germany group. Between the Netherlands and Belgium there are signs of a fight for the playoff spot in Group A4. Both teams did their duty in the evening.
England had not lost to Hungary since 1962, but now it happened twice in just ten days. The Hungarians are surprisingly leaders, England remains last with only two points. Roland Sallai (13′, 70′) from SC Freiburg, Zsolt Nagy (80′) and Daniel Gazdag (89′) scored for the Hungarians, John Stones had to leave the field with yellow-red (82′).
In Group 4, the favorites narrowly prevailed in the evening. Oranje won 3-2 (2-1) against Wales, Brennan Johnson (26) and Gareth Bale ( 90+2) scored for the Welsh (26th).
In the parallel game, the Poles around Robert Lewandowski, who was willing to change, also lost the second leg 0:1 (0:1) after the clear 1:6 defeat in the first leg against Belgium.
Nations League: Turkey wins fourth game in a row
Thanks to the goal of ex-Dortmunder Michy Batshuayi (16th), the Red Devils stay close on the heels of the leaders of the Netherlands (10th) with seven points.
Turkey continued their spotless series in the third division and also defeated Lithuania 2-0 (1-0). Former Bundesliga professionals Kaan Ayhan (37′) and Hakan Calhanoglu (54′) scored for coach Stefan Kuntz’s team, who after four games with twelve points and 14-0 goals can almost certainly plan for the play-offs.
Ukraine has also taken another step towards the play-offs. It was only enough to draw 1-1 (1-0) against Ireland, but the war-torn country still leads Group 1 of League B with seven points.
