Nearly 20.7 million Canadians received benefits from COVID-19

Government income support programs were all the rage in 2020 at the height of the COVID-19 crisis, with nearly three in four Canadians taking advantage of one of these measures.

Statistics Canada revealed that of the 30.3 million Canadians aged 15 and over eligible for one of the government programs, 20.7 million received a benefit.

This represents 68.4% of the eligible population.

Support programs included the Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB), the Canada Recovery Benefit (CRB) and the Canada Emergency Student Benefit (CERB).
