Neo-Nazis hijack event in Tampa

On the second day of Turning Point USA’s Student Action Summit, an event for neoliberal students, neo-Nazis came to the Tampa Convention Center waving swastika flags. Former US President Donald Trump also spoke at the event.

The far-right group arrived after participants in another demonstration denouncing recent actions by the Supreme Court, particularly the overturning of the Roe V. Wade ruling that secured abortion rights nationwide, the website said Creative Loafing.

According to that Creative Loafingphotographer Dave Decker, the group also distributed fliers that read, “Every single aspect of abortion is Jewish.”

The leaflets say they were distributed by the Goyim Defense League, which is run by the Anti-Defamation League identified as an extremist terrorist organization responsible for at least 74 anti-Semitic propaganda incidents in 2021. The Anti-Defamation League is an organization that works against discrimination and defamation of Jews.

The speaker of Turning Point USAAndrew Kolvet, told Creative Loafing that TPUSA had no idea who the Nazi groups were or why they were showing up before Congress.

Videos on social networks show the anti-Semitic incident. For example, one tweet said: “It was appalling to see swastika flags and anti-Semitic signs displayed today at the Tampa Convention Center ahead of Turning Point USA’s #SAS2022 conference.”

Holocaust Museum strongly condemns the incident

This was described as an “inexcusable act of hatred”. Florida Holocaust Museum the demonstrations at the Tampa Convention Center.

“This is not about politics or religion,” he said MuseumChairman Mike Igel in a statement. “It’s about humanity. The Florida Holocaust Museum calls everyone, Jew and non-Jew, regardless of their origin political belonging, to condemn in the strongest possible terms this blatant anti-Semitism. That should concern everyone.”

“The open and proud display of genocidal symbols poses a direct threat to the Jewish community,” Igel said in his statement. “Carrying the Nazi flag or the SS flag, the entity responsible for some of the worst atrocities of the Holocaust, is an inexcusable act of pure hatred.”

Florida has seen a surge in fascist activity in recent months. In Orlando, the Nazi group attacked civilians with nuclear weapons during a demonstration, and in Daytona Beach, a neo-Nazi group issued a bomb threat.
