NEP calls for arbitration – Theodoros Kanellopoulos: “We had to lose!” | Polo – 2024-03-18 16:27:47

The NEP expresses its strong dissatisfaction with the refereeing of yesterday’s match with PAE Argis for the championship of the A2 National Men’s Polo Championship. The statements of the general captain of the team Theodore Kanellopoulos, who attended the match together with the president of the “dolphins” Manolis Tsouramanis and the treasurer of the club Giorgos Androutselis, are characteristic:
“Our team strongly complains about the refereeing. We had to lose. We knew that the cries of PAE Argi for their game with PEKEV would result in our own defeat. The referees tolerated the insults and obnoxious water play of the home team, while instead punishing our own players at the slightest protest. We won’t dwell further on the tragic refereeing mistakes – something we have had nothing to do with and don’t want to do again – but ultimately in this particular game we had to lose. The duo of the match was inadequate. We hope that the officials of KOE and KED treat our team with respect for our history, but also for the consistent presence we have had over the years in all the Federation’s championships. We are sorry once again for what we experienced. We continue strong and united with the goal of first place in our Group”.
