Netanyahu meets Biden, Harris and Trump in turn during his US visit

The Israeli Prime Minister will also have a separate meeting with Vice President Kamala Harris. He will address Congress on Wednesday.

It will be the fourth time Netanyahu will have this rare opportunity to speak from the podium in the House of Representatives. He thus beats Winston Churchill’s old record of three visits.

Harris normally presides over these sessions by virtue of being vice president, but this time the chair is empty as she is on a campaign tour. Nor will the Republicans’ vice-presidential candidate JD Vance be in the hall, as he is also out to court the voters.

Several Democrats and the independent representative Bernie Sanders have made it clear that they will boycott the speech in protest against Israel’s warfare on the Gaza Strip.

Many protesters have gathered outside Congress demanding that Netanyahu end the war and release the hostages, many of them American citizens. It is expected that one of the groups demonstrating will circle the congress complex and loudly demand that Netanyahu be arrested for war crimes.

On Friday, Netanyahu will continue to Florida where he will meet former President Donald Trump.
