Known as one of the longest-running sagas of its generation, already covering 25 years of stories, One Piece already has more than a thousand anime episodes since the 1990s. Now, however, Netflix has announced that the famous manga will receive a new adaptation by the hands of Wit Studioresponsible for the productions of Attack on Titan and Spy x Family, under the name The One Piece.

According to Kazutaka Sakamoto, director of animation content at Netflix, the new animation will begin with the East Blue Saga, which begins Luffy’s journey, but the experience should be different from the original —but using “innovative visual technology”.

In the trailer, you can see a manual drawing, with a sketch tone, painted with colored pencils, but there is no guarantee that this will be the final look of the series or if it is just a presentation concept.

The One Piece does not yet have a confirmed release date, but as the announcement appears to be part of the manga’s 25th anniversary celebrations, celebrated next year, it could be that the series will debut at some point in 2024.

It is also worth remembering that this year Netflix also launched the live action adaptation of the saga, with a second season already confirmed.
