Neuquén lifeguards reiterate their request to provide services in Vista Alegre

This week the sad news was released about two bodies found in the Neuquén River, which were later confirmed to belong to the two young men who were being searched for at the Ballester Dam in Vista Alegre. From the Lifeguard Union They assured that this year they have already offered themselves three times to provide the service, however, they do not obtain responses from the municipality.

The union’s general secretary, Ariel Tarifeño, spoke to Cumbre radio and explained that before the death of the two young men from Tucumán who had been wanted since last Sunday, They had already sent two notes to the municipality this year offering the service and warning of the dangers in the area.

This week they reiterated the request by sending a new note, so they hope they can be received by someone. “Before Sunday we had already raised the request twice that we were available to avoid this type of event,” despite this, so far they have not been received by any official.

Tarifeño considered that the municipality should determine the bathing area so that people know where they can go to enjoy the river and avoid these inconveniences. “It is a responsibility of the State to provide citizens with a safe place to spend the summer. We know that many people do not have enough money to go to a private pool, or to a club, or buy a pool to get over the heat”

In this sense, he explained that in the area where the young people had entered “bathing is not allowed and they are very dangerous areas”, for which he considers that they have to have people trained to prevent and to remove people who enter. He assured that this type of event “worries us and saddens us”

What service do you offer to provide?

Tarifeño explained that about three or four years ago a lifeguard service was provided on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays in a certain area. “Our intention is to prevent what is happening,” explained the secretary, since he also ensures that the neighbors themselves demand this service.

He explained that what they offer to the municipality of Vista Alegre is to make available about five or six lifeguards to cover the area, with the availability of one more with helmsmen so that you can tour the area. For now, It would only be for Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

“We have told the municipality that there is a group available to cover that area. We know that many people bathe there, we have the request of the people who live there, ”he said, so they hope to get an answer in the next few days.
