A group of students from EPET 11 in Zapala developed an app to provide greater security for students going to or returning to their schools. The “Corredores Seguros” technology makes it possible to mark the roads with police presence and notify the mobile phone closest to the place, in case of danger.

Balthazar Godoyone of the students who worked on the program spoke with RÍO NEGRO and provided details of a project which already has its first positive results and is being applied in the downtown city of Neuquén.

«The app is already used throughout Zapala and on Tuesday 22 We will make a presentation so that it is known at the provincial level, “advanced the young man.

Students tour other schools to teach the uses of “Safe Corridors.”

«Corredor Seguro» is an interactive map that has a tactile button panel that allows to know which is the road where the Neuquén Police carries out routes. “The idea is to mark the corridor and to know which area is safer, it is designed for students who are walking or cycling”detailed the student of technical school 11.

The young man explained that although the main use was intended for the student segment, there are already many people in Zapala who use it because “It’s always good to know where the police are.”

Baltazar with Santiago Galesio, Santiago Bombino, Bianca Bacci, Alejo Muller, Tiziano Martinez and Marcos Palm, fThey were those in charge of developing the application, however they highlighted that the creation began with another promotion of the same EPET 11 a few years ago.

“We took on the project that had good progress, but was cut short by the pandemic,” He recalled and highlighted that a lot of work was done to make the app easy to use and have an intuitive user experience.

The students took the project from a previous promotion and optimized it.

«Safe Corridor» has color maps and buttons that allow you to automatically call the nearest mobile. This process must have had the direct collaboration of the provincial security force.

On this, Baltazar Godoy explained that it was a complex job and that he managed to establish himself to the point that they have already held talks together with students from all educational establishments in Zapala, showing and promoting the use of the app.

Student-student training is focused on the responsible use of “Safe Corridors”.

“Now we will go to primary and adult schools, that’s why the Police, Firefighters, Civil Defense and SIEN will be part of the talk next Tuesday 22 at 9:45”advancement.

He also anticipated that they continue to work to improve the benefits and will seek to optimize the map system and add a button that allows issuing an alert and providing the Police with the location of the person who is in danger. Something similar to a panic button.

At the moment “Safe Brokers” It can be downloaded on cell phones with the “Android” operating system at the following link or with a QR code.
