Islamabad: The Pakistan Cabinet approved the new Security Agreement (CIS-MOA) with the US.

The bilateral agreement will strengthen defense cooperation between the two countries, which has been frozen for years. This is following an agreement was reached in a meeting between US Central Command Chief General Michael Eric Kurilla and Pakistan Army Chief Asim Munir to strengthen bilateral ties, including in the defense sector. The deal is aimed at buying military equipment and weapons from the US. However, the official announcement regarding the agreement has not yet been made by both the parties.

In 2005, Pakistan and the U.S. signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Defense Partnership. The 15-year contract expired in 2020.
