A new vaccination campaign against Covid will start in mid-October. It concerns people at risk. It will be launched on October 17 in mainland France, Guadeloupe, Martinique and Guyana, and on September 6 in Mayotte.

The Eris variant is now the most common form of Covid in France. Since the beginning of the month, the health authorities have increased their vigilance, even if the level of incidence remains “very low”, according to French Public Health.

However, a new vaccination campaign is planned for next autumn, in accordance with the recommendations of the High Authority for Health (HAS). It will be launched on October 17 in metropolitan France, Guadeloupe, Martinique and Guyana, and on September 6 in Mayotte, details an interministerial note published at the end of July.

The objective of vaccination is to prevent risks upstream in order to prevent the spread of the epidemic. The organization of the campaign is therefore supposed to facilitate access to vaccination so that eligible people can receive both Covid-19 and flu vaccinations…

In its recommendations, the HAS recommends a booster dose for people most at risk of a severe form of the disease: people aged 65 and over, people with serious or immunocompromised pathologies, pregnant women, people with psychiatric disorders, dementia or trisomy 21, as well as those living in regular contact with vulnerable people (in particular professionals in the health and medico-social sectors, even if the vaccination obligation was suspended for the latter in May 2023). This campaign will be coupled with vaccination against seasonal flu.

Vaccination is subject to one condition: having been neither vaccinated nor infected during the last six months.
