Zero tolerance for abuse in sport
Federations and clubs will have to put everything in place from March 1 to protect athletes against, among other things, violence and sexual abuse.
Switzerland must do better to combat abuse in sport. From March 1, federations and clubs will have to show their credentials in terms of ethics to receive funds, the Federal Council has decided.
The Federal Council wants to apply zero tolerance for ill-treatment in the sports world, especially for young people. After the revelations of abuse at the Macolin training center in 2020, he wants to avoid any recurrence.
Organizations will have to comply with the new rules to request aid from the Confederation, announces a press release. They must commit to taking measures to protect athletes against violence, sexual abuse, discrimination and attacks on mental integrity.
An independent national reporting service has already been at work since the beginning of 2022. The Swiss Olympic Disciplinary Chamber can intervene by taking sanctions and denouncing to the criminal prosecution authorities.
