Ikea has announced a new collection of play furniture, Brännboll, which combines simple shapes, bright and neutral colors. The collection consists of 20 pieces, including a table, chairs, accessories and various storage solutions. The fresh approach to design rejects the aggressive “dark gaming aesthetic” and introduces gaming furniture that is more likely to blend in with existing home decor.

Following on from its 2021 furniture line with Asus ROG, which also stripped away the overly aggressive “gamer” frills, the new Brännboll collection focuses on the design that Ikea does best—simple, unmistakable Scandinavian style.
The main focus is on seating comfort – the collection includes a chair that reclines into a resting position, a rocking chair that responds to the owner’s movements, and an inflatable donut-shaped chair with a matching footrest.
The Brännboll collection also includes a “gaming station” that transforms into a sort of cabinet, complete with a folding tabletop, built-in PC compartment and cable management system.
The new line includes a storage container that turns into a side table, a wall shelving system for displaying gaming achievements, and textile products such as a mouse pad, rug, and blanket.
Ikea says the Brännboll collection is inspired by outdoor sports and fitness, combining neutral and bright colors that easily fit into the design of modern living spaces. The essence of the new collection is to offer furniture that is maximally adapted for modern computer games, but at the same time maintaining the familiar comfort of home and family aesthetics.
“With Brännboll we support the idea that games are for everyone and should be everywhere in the home, said Ikea design developer Philip Dilé. — It’s about making it easier for people to create spaces that are equally adaptable to play and life.”
Although many of the photographs presented by Ikea feature children, Deeley emphasized that the new collection of furniture is designed for all ages and is great for the whole family, young and old. Prices will be announced at the start of sales, which is scheduled for September.
