New president at the head of the Public Health Ethics Committee

On June 22, the board of directors of the Institut national de santé publique du Québec (INSPQ) appointed Mrs. Delphine Roigt as the new president of the Public Health Ethics Committee (CESP), for a four-year term.

Madame Roigt graduated in law from the University of Sherbrooke and has been a member of the Barreau du Québec since 1997. Holder of a doctorate in applied human sciences, bioethics option, she has worked for nearly twenty-five years in clinical ethics and research ethics. . A passionate trainer with many organizations in the health and social services network across Quebec, she is also a speaker in the field of ethics and health law.

She succeeds Mr. Bruno Leclerc, whose contribution over the past 10 years has been warmly welcomed by the Board of Directors, the members of the committee and the advisory team.

The committee welcomes two other new members

Two other appointments were also confirmed, for a four-year term. They are Mr. Marc Lapierre, as a representative of the population, and Mrs. Lara Khoury, as a lawyer.

Mr Lapierre practices as a community pharmacist and teaches the veterinary use of drugs to pharmacy students at the Université de Montréal. He is a member of the ethics and professional conduct investigation committees of the Order of Pharmacists of Quebec and the Order of Veterinary Physicians of Quebec.

Madame Khoury has been a member of the Barreau du Québec since 1995. Associate Professor at the Faculty of Law of McGill University, she is also an associate member of the Institute for Health & Social Policy and of the Biomedical Ethics Unit. Since 2006, she co-directs the Health and Law Research Group. His expertise covers medical law, health and public health law and environmental law.

We welcome new members and good luck in their mandates.

Composed of eight permanent members, the CESP plays an advisory role with public health authorities and professionals who call on it in connection with public health projects, programs or actions. It reports to the INSPQ Board of Directors, which appoints the members and determines the operating procedures. However, the CESP is solely responsible for the opinions it produces and the ethical review process it uses.
