Jeddah: Airlines will have to pay huge compensation to passengers if their flight is canceled or delayed. Saudi Arabia is preparing to implement a new law regarding this. The new aviation law announced by the Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation contains notable instructions and conditions.

The new law will come into force in the country from November 20. If the flights are canceled or delayed due to any reason, the airlines have to compensate the passenger 150 to 200 percent of the ticket. The new law also specifies that in case of loss or damage of luggage, 6568 Saudi Riyal or 6432 dirhams must be paid as compensation.

The new regulations and guidelines are also applicable to chartered flights on occasions like Hajj and Umrah. The new law covers all areas related to air travel, including ticketing, boarding, baggage handling and assistance to passengers requiring special care. The Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation stated that the stronger law is being implemented as part of providing better services to passengers.
