Comedian Jan Jaap van der Wal is returning to the Netherlands from Belgium for his new performance my flat countryto be seen in the 2024/2025 season.
In Flanders they would say: “Yes, well, it would be nice if you might come and see Jan Jaap’s show, maybe.” Dutch style: Jan Jaap van der Wal has a new show and you should be there!

In 2015, Van der Wal fell in love with Belgium and has now lived in Flanders for quite some time. Yet he remains connected to the Netherlands, because you simply cannot deny your roots. Now that he lives in Flanders, the comedian looks at his homeland with different eyes. And with the gaze of an outsider you see slightly different things. In my flat country Van der Wal shares some lessons that we as ‘Ollanders’ can learn from the Flemish, and vice versa. Because the Dutch directness and clarity are sometimes missed.

Van der Wal is a well-known face in both the Dutch and Flemish comedy circuits. He has been active as a comedian since 1997 and has 14 full-length programs to his name. He also regularly appears on TV as a permanent team captain for the program This was the News and as a permanent jury member The smartest person in the world.
First
Van der Wal starts his tour from September 26 with some try-outs. The premiere of my flat country takes place on November 16, 2024 in Diligentia theater in The Hague. And he will play the last performance of the tour on April 12, 2025 in the Kunstlinie theater in Almere.
