Madrid, Sep 8 (EFE).- The draft royal decree that materializes the specialty of Health Sciences in Emergency and Emergency Medicine, whose first places will be expected to open in 2025, establishes two years of training shared with Family Medicine and a training gateway that will allow both to access the double degree.
This is stated in the text submitted to a public hearing this Friday by the Ministry of Health that, in addition to creating this specialty, establishes three routes of extraordinary access to the title for professionals who already work in these services without having to pass the MIR exam or a new residence.
A first access will be direct for those who prove provision of services for at least four years within the seven years prior to the entry into force of the royal decree, and who are the majority of these professionals.
The other two would be given after passing a practical test: in the first case, for those who have accredited between 2 and 4 years of professional practice in the four years prior to the entry into force of the royal decree or have completed their training at that time. term.
And in another for those who begin specialized training after the entry into force of the royal decree and complete it before the first promotion of specialists in Emergency and Emergency Medicine concludes, who from Health hope can be starting their residency by 2026, as reported to EFE from this department.
In this case, they will have to prove professional practice in the Emergency Department for at least 50% of the time since they obtained their specialist title.
For the first time, a common training period is configured for two specialties – Urgent and Emergency Medicine, and Family and Community Medicine. Although residents will choose one or the other before starting their training, they will later be able to access the other through an information gateway that will allow them to have the double degree.
They will have to have at least five years of professional practice and must take a competency evaluation test in the field of the new specialty, as well as complete a minimum training period of two years.
Starting with the process that begins this Friday, Health has to issue its own reports and wait for the external ones that it has requested from the ministries of Universities, Territorial Policy, Finance and Public Service and Transport and the communities, which it trusts to be able to have in the period of one month.
With those collected, you must update the document for submission to the Council of State, which has another two months to issue its opinion, although this procedure could be reduced to 15 days if it accepted the emergency route.
However, Health estimates that, speeding up all the deadlines, the royal decree could reach the Council of Ministers in March 2024, so that the first positions could be announced in 2025.EFE
