New Test record: Steve Smith surpasses Sangakkara and Tendulkar

Sydney: Former Australia captain Steve Smith has become the highest run scorer in 150 Test innings. Smith’s half-century in all three Test innings against Pakistan set a new record. In the Lahore Test, Smith scored 7993 runs for 59 runs. Smith has overtaken Sri Lankan legend Kumar Sangakkara. Sangakkara scored 7913 runs in 150 Tests.

Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar is in third place. The legendary batsman scored 7869 runs. Former India opener Virender Sehwag is fourth. Sehwag has 7694 runs to his name. Former India captain and current coach Rahul Dravid is in fifth position. Dravid’s total is 7680 runs.

Meanwhile, Pakistan got off to a great start in the first innings of the Lahore Test. By the end of the second day, the hosts were 90 for one. Abdullah Shafiq (45) and Azhar Ali (30) are Crisil. Pakistan lost the wicket of Imam-ul-Haq (11). Pat Cummins took the wicket.
