The new Sequoia will be equipped with a new twin turbo V6 hybrid “i-FORCE MAX” powertrain. The powertrain that debuted on the “Tundra” earlier has 437HP and 790Nm. The drive layout can be selected from 2WD or part-time 4WD systems in “SR5”, “Limited”, “Platinum”, and “Capstone” grades. The “TRD Pro” grade is set only for 4WD. The body structure is “body on frame”, which is the same platform for the Tundra, “Land Cruiser” and Lexus “LX”. The development of this platform focused on handling, comfort and capacity.
The interior of the three-row seats can be arranged in various ways according to the occupants and luggage. In the second case, you can choose a bench seat or a captain chair for any grade. Both seats have reclining backrests and can be folded to expand the luggage compartment. The backrest of the third row of seats can be reclined and folded, but it should be noted that it is a “sliding third row seat with cargo shelf adjustment function”.
The full-size SUV emphasizes the towing function of trailers, boats, campers, etc., and the new Sequoia has a towing capacity of 4082 kg (9000 pounds). It is 22% stronger than its predecessor.
