In so-called kinetic magnetism, completely different mechanisms are at work than in conventional magnets. Until now, this special form of magnetism had only been discussed theoretically. But now a Swiss research team from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) Zurich has succeeded in experimentally proving this for the first time. The basis of the discovery was a special, artificially produced “moire material”.
