New Zealand Prime Minister apologizes after insulting MP

This Tuesday, a lively debate took place in the New Zealand parliament, concerning the measures taken during the pandemic. David Seymour, Leader of the Opposition, has called on Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern to acknowledge her government’s mistakes, apologize for them and fix them.

The Prime Minister admittedly admitted that not all the responses from her administration had been perfect, in particular on the management of isolation during quarantines and that things would be done differently today if they had to be redone. But that she supported all the work carried out by her government. Except that as she sat down once more, Jacinda Ardern blurted out regarding David Seymour: “What an arrogant jerk!”

A comment that was heard on the microphone, as told by the BBC. David Seymour protested and asked the Speaker of the House of Representatives to remove these remarks from the record of the debates. After the session, Jessica Ardern explained that she had gone to apologize to the Leader of the Opposition.
