News 24 | Food and Drug Administration: 3 risks of excessive melatonin supplement intake to regulate sleep

The Food and Drug Authority has warned of potential dangers that may be caused by excessive consumption of the “melatonin” food supplement to regulate sleep.

The authority stated that the risks of excessive intake of the “melatonin” supplement include feeling nauseous, dizziness and headache.

She pointed out that this supplement contributes to reducing the time it takes to fall asleep, and relieves the feeling of post-travel fatigue symptoms due to the time difference, indicating that the secretion of the hormone melatonin increases in darkness and decreases when there is light, and its production decreases with age.
