The Food and Drug Authority clarified that calorie-free sugar is considered an artificial sweetener and does not lead to an increase in blood sugar.
The authority indicated that certain percentages of these artificial sweeteners added to foodstuffs are taken, stressing the need to read the food label on the product to know the warnings, if any.
The “Food and Drug” clarification came in response to a query received by a person about artificial sweeteners added to food products and the percentage of sugars in them.
