The NFL is in the heat of the season. Two teams celebrate an important success and thus secure entry into the playoffs. Another team takes a big step towards postseason.

In the game against the Cincinnati Bengals, star player Damar Hamlin of the Buffalo Bills collapsed and had to be resuscitated on the field after suffering cardiac arrest.

Hamlin was taken to a local hospital, where his condition is said to be critical. The game was completely stopped after an initial one-hour break.

Two other teams secured a playoff spot.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers won the NFC South division title with a 30-24 win over the Carolina Panthers. Tom Brady and Co. had to stretch a lot because they were 10:21 behind at the beginning of the final quarter. (DATA: All NFL Tables)

The New York Giants have also secured one of the coveted places in the postseason. The franchise won 38-10 against the Indianapolis Colts, qualifying for the first time since 2016.

Ten teams now have their playoff ticket secured. Among them are the Buffalo Bills, the Cincinnati Bengals, the Baltimore Ravens and the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC. Qualified for the NFC: Philadelphia Eagles, Dallas Cowboys, Minnesota Vikings and the San Francisco 49ers.

Amon-Ra St. Brown still has a good chance with his Detroit Lions. They defeated the Chicago Bears 41-10 and thus have a final on the last day of the game. They need a win against the Green Bay Packers and the Seattle Seahawks are without a win in either of their last two games.

The Carolina Panthers have meanwhile been eliminated from the playoff race due to their defeat. The Cleveland Browns, the Indianapolis Colts, the Houston Texans, the Denver Broncos, the Chicago Bears, the Atlanta Falcons, the prevented defending champion Los Angeles Rams and the Arizona Cardinals also have no chance.
